    New SHRP program looks to increase minority interest

    Mere weeks after enrolling its first cohort participants, the Healthcare Equity and Leadership Institute (HELI) in the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center already is returning dividends.

  • Education at UMMC

    UMMC is accredited by SACSCOC to award bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees. For academic year 2015-16, UMMC has 2,385 students enrolled in 28 degree programs offered through the Schools of Dentistry, Graduate Studies in the Health Sciences, Health Related Professions, Medicine, and Nursing. Additionally, 626 residents and fellows receive graduate medical training.

    UMMC is the sole provider in Mississippi for baccalaureate and professional degrees in several programs, including medicine (allopathic), dentistry, occupational therapy and dental hygiene. Admission preference is given to Mississippi residents in an effort to supply professionals to meet the state's health-care needs.
