Desiree B. Pendergrass, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. She is board certified in both disciplines. Dr. Pendergrass was a member of the pediatric faculty at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock from 2007 – 2017 where she served as Medical Director of the Pediatric Residents’ Continuity of Care Clinic and as a member of the Pediatric Clinical Competency Committee and the Program Evaluation Committee. She also was a member of the planning committee for Texas Tech’s Annual Pediatric Postgraduate Course, serving as co-course director from 2015 – 2017. At the Texas Department of State Health Services, Dr. Pendergrass developed medical policy for medical programs for children. She has served as a clinical coordinator for the Texas Medical Foundation, providing expertise in the area of clinical quality improvement and was in private practice in Oklahoma City for 2 years. Degrees awarded include a BA in chemistry from Texas Christian University and an MD from the University of Texas Medical School, Houston. Her pediatric internship was at the University of Missouri, Columbia and her residency at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City. Her preventive medicine residency and MPH were completed at Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health.
