Dr. Nandi is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine (EM) at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC). He is the President of the Mississippi Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Nandi received his M.D. from Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar in 2012. He completed his EM residency at UMMC where he was chief resident in his final year (2015-2016). He then completed a 2-year research fellowship in the department of EM and UMMC’s 2-year Master of Science in Clinical Investigation (MSCI) degree program in 2018. Dr. Nandi serves as the UMMC EM department’s Associate Director of Research. He is a member of the department’s Research, Program Evaluation, Wellness and Diversity, Inclusion and Equity Strategic Planning committees. Dr. Nandi serves as the Associate Medical Director of the Clinical Research Support Program (CRSP). CRSP is a part of the Mississippi Clinical Research and Trials Center and its team of research coordinators, research nurses and regulatory specialists support the design and conduct of clinical and translational research at UMMC. Dr. Nandi also serves as a clinical trialist for the newly developed Clinical Research and Trials Unit at UMMC. His research focus during residency was on the diagnostic and prognostic value of various vital signs in sepsis patients. His research focus during fellowship had been on fluid resuscitation, endothelial glycocalyx damage and biomarker evaluation in sepsis patients. Dr. Nandi has been a site co-investigator on multiple multi-center clinical trials evaluating venous thromboembolism, heart failure, acute lung injury and sepsis resuscitation. His current research efforts are focused on COVID-19 and he is a co-investigator on multiple NIH, CDC and industry-sponsored clinical trials at UMMC.
