My mother was a doctor in the Indian army. Besides being clinically adept, she was extremely caring, treating her patients with the same countenance she harbored around her family. Her loving nature coupled with a burning desire to make my parents proud inspired me to pursue medicine. When I entered medical school, I was amazed at the complexity of the human body. I have always prided myself in my extreme attention to detail, a skill that rendered pathology an especially appealing subject to me. My passion for the subject devoured me as I spent my days and nights in a fervent attempt to further my pathology acumen. This ardor propelled me to embark on a journey to Boston, United States, where I further honed my diagnostic skills during my pathology residency followed by a fellowship in cytology. I embarked on a new journey as I entered the fascinating world of academic pathology vis-à-vis my position in Temple University, PA. Here I got the opportunity to mentor residents as the director of residency program. When my department needed, I stepped up to reorganize the cytology section which is still functioning on the quality assurance plan that I created. UMMC has been an enriching experience for me professionally. In the last five years, my pathology skills have reached new heights. I have also volunteered my time and knowledge for the betterment of the community. In UMMC, I have been intimately involved in the operations and quality assurances of surgical pathology. In the future, I want to continue to serve the patients with the knowledge I have garnered and extend my knowledge to the pathologists of tomorrow.
