Dr. Jeremy D. Jackson is Associate Professor of Dermatology and Vice-Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He also is director of the cutaneous lymphoma multi-specialty clinic and Lead Hospitalist dermatologist. Dr. Jackson grew up in Meridian, Mississippi, and attended Mississippi State University where he received the Halbrook Award for top male student-athlete in 1996. A member of the MSU baseball team, he was Southeastern Conference Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1998, a GTE Academic All-American- First team, and MSU most valuable pitcher, taking his team to the College World Series two years in a row. After playing professional baseball in the Kansas City Royals and New York Mets organizations, he retired and taught chemistry at Jackson Prep in Jackson for one year before attending medical school at UMMC, where he graduated summa cum laude in 2006 and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He received the Waller S. Leathers award for graduating with the highest academic average in his class. He completed and Internal Medicine residency at UMMC and then served as chief resident (2009-10) before completing a dermatology residency at the University of Alabama in 2013 where he served as chief resident his final year. Dr. Jackson cares for many of the most acutely ill dermatology patients at UMMC. He is known for his organized and charismatic teaching, calm demeanor, prescient mentoring, and focus on the needs of each individual patient. He has 10 peer-reviewed publications, and has performed 14 lectures at regional and national venues. He is co-author of the Dermatology Section of the Medical Knowledge Self-Assessment Program (MKSAP) for prepares internal medicine residents for their certifying examination. He is most proud of his wife and being a dad to his 3 children.
