I am a fellowship trained cytopathologist with board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology as well as Cytopathology. I have concentrated on gastrointestinal surgical and cytopathology for the past 3 years and am expanding to pulmonary pathology currently. My special interest is fine needle aspiration as a means to obtain a minimally invasive tissue diagnosis. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of performance and interpretation of small biopsies with fellows and residents. I am in the process of growing an on-campus clinic with the goal of increasing the number of fine needle aspirations performed by pathology while maximizing efficiency and patient care. I feel that forward facing pathology is important; we must work closely, efficiently and effectively with our clinical colleagues to properly care for our patients. Additionally, it creates an avenue to attract medical students into pathology. Recently, I have accepted the position as director of the M2 course. In addition to continuing and expanding the excellent teaching in the course, I hope to interest more students in pathology as a career. I enjoy working in an academic setting primarily because the atmosphere of collaboration and inquiry. My goal as a faculty is to enhance and promote this environment to the benefit of the patients, trainees, and institution.
