Captain Jenn Krump

Jenn Krump, who has over 25 years of experience in public safety, is director/captain of public safety and oversees the communications unit.

After graduating from the Oakland (Calif.) Police Department Basic Academy in 2008, Krump spent two years as a patrol officer and later a problem-solving officer, developing innovative ways of bridging the gap between the community and the department.

She later joined the Gulfport Police Department as a patrol officer, with appointments in narcotics, criminal investigations, and the Alcohol, Firearms and Tobacco South Mississippi task force. As she rose through the ranks, she was assigned to the division of training as the officer in charge of all training initiatives. She was promoted to lieutenant in 2021 and served as a shift OIC in the patrol division.

Krump, who relocated to UMMC PD to assume the role of Clery compliance officer and accreditation manager, continues her commitment to training by rolling out various training initiatives to the department and the medical center.

Prior to law enforcement, Krump spent nearly 15 years as a firefighter/paramedic and fire/EMS instructor/trainer throughout the Midwest and California. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Miami University of Ohio and a master's in criminal justice from the University of Mississippi.
