In order to engage leadership from across UMMC in the new planning process, a Strategic Planning Council (SPC) was formed incorporating the top tier of leaders in all mission areas, organizational units, and physical locations. Consisting of approximately 75 leaders as presently configured including deans, department chairs, and executives from the Health System and Service Area, the SPC will meet about three times annually to gain information, provide feedback, and develop action steps as appropriate to move the planning process forward from year to year.
An initial meeting of the SPC was held Sept. 18, 2018. Based on participant survey response (100 percent response rate), the overall satisfaction with the meeting was very positive, and top leadership appears very engaged in the new planning approach and process.
Additionally, as requested by almost 80 percent of the SPC, a repeat session is being conducted Dec. 7, 2018, for an additional 240-plus leaders designated by the SPC members in order to share the same information and, hopefully, achieve similar engagement.
