Policies and Procedures

Academic Probation

If at any time during an academic year the progress of a student is considered unsatisfactory, the student may be placed on academic probation or dismissed from the program. Students who are placed on academic probation because their GPA has fallen below 3.0 (PhD) or have earned one (1) C will have 2 semesters to raise their GPA to 3.0 (PhD) or 2.8 (MS) or higher. Failure to do so will result in dismissal.

The School of Population Health (SoPH) will monitor student progression by checking GPAs after the first academic year. Letters will be sent to those students who have GPAs that have fallen below 3.0 or have earned one (1) C will have 2 semesters, detailing the policy and consequences. The student will be instructed to meet with the program director and be placed in the program's academic achievement program. The program director will submit a copy of its academic achievement program to the SoPH Dean's Office.
