PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Requirements

One month each of the following:

  • Inpatient Adult Medicine
  • Critical Care
  • Pediatrics

Longitudinal experiences examples:

  • Practice management
  • Major research
  • Service/staffing every 4th weekend
  • Ambulatory Care Continuity Care Clinic (once a week)

Electives include, but are not limited to:

  • Academia
  • Anticoagulation
  • Bone marrow transplant unit
  • Cancer Institute
  • Cardiology
  • Critical Care - SICU, MICU, CICU, NSICU
  • Drug information
  • Emergency medicine
  • Heart failure
  • Hematology/Oncology - Adult
  • Hematology/Oncology - Pediatrics
  • General pediatrics
  • Infectious diseases - Consults and stewardship
  • Neonatal ICU
  • Nephrology
  • Nutrition support
  • Operating room
  • Pediatric ICU
  • Practice management
  • Psychiatry
  • Renal/liver transplant
  • Women's Health

Service commitment:

  • Every fourth¬†weekend

Teaching responsibilities:

  • Doctory of pharmacy students and pharmacy staff
  • Medical students/residents and nurse practitioner students

Other responsibilities:

  • Local presentations
  • Community service
  • Publications in major or local journals
