Medical Activities Overview

Thank you for your interest in receiving information regarding sponsorship of a continuing medical education activity. The University of Mississippi School of Medicine, Division of Continuing Health Professional Education (CHPE) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to sponsor and jointly provide continuing medical activities. Compliance with ACCME Essentials and Guidelines for Accreditation of Sponsors of Continuing Medical Education and the Standards for Commercial Support of Continuing Medical Education is not optional but required by accredited sponsors of CME. Compliance for ADA CERP dental credit, ACPE for pharmacy credit, and MNF/ANCC for nursing credit and other national accrediting bodies are adhered to as applicable.

A CHPE team member must be involved in program-related activities from program inception to program end. National accrediting bodies look to our CE office to document the means by which compliance with each criteria for accreditation is met. Your planning committee must comprise of a member of each healthcare discipline within your target audience. Contact this office to discuss your activity prior to completing these forms.

Before completing the application for credit, it is important that you acquaint yourself with our policies and procedures. You will find helpful information on our website under “CE Applications.” By completing and signing the application for approval form, you are stating your willingness to abide by UMMC policies and procedures as well as the criteria for applicable credit for your activity.
