Condensed Academic Networking kNowledge

A new model for professional, career and academic development

CANN, Condensed Academic Networking kNowledge, provides a novel, engaging, and meaningful format by which UMMC faculty, staff, and students can engage in development opportunities on their own time.

During one week every month, the Office of Academic Development in Academic Affairs, in collaboration with the UMMC Technology Learning Central and Human Resources Training and Development Council, will offer three opportunities, each at a different location and time within a short time frame, to engage faculty and staff in professional growth reaching UMMC’s three-fold mission of education, health care, and research.

A process by which participants can receive digital credentials from UMedCred for their learning will be available.

Talk times

Engaging in professional development can tricky due to UMMC’s sprawling campus. CANN seeks to reduce the “price” of getting to the sessions by offering opportunities in three different high traffic areas during one week a month.

CANN talk times will be offered at the following times on selected dates:

  • 7:30-7:50 a.m. in the B.B. Richardson Conference Room
  • 12:30-12:50 p.m. in SHRP Room 198
  • 4:30-4:50 p.m. in N-5A
