Commencement to yield record graduate total

A record 851 degrees are expected to be awarded to students on Friday during UMMC’s 58th annual Commencement at the Mississippi Coliseum on the State Fairgrounds.

The graduates includes physicians, dentists, nurses, allied health professionals and graduate students in the health sciences. This year’s total will smash last year’s record of 681 graduates, thanks in part to larger classes in the schools of nursing, medicine and health related professions.

UMMC faculty should pick up their regalia from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, in the ASB Suite in the Norman C. Nelson Student Union.

All candidates for degrees must assemble by 9 a.m. at the areas designated for each school. Faculty will robe in their designated area and should enter the coliseum by 9:15 a.m. at the South and East side through doors marked "Faculty Entrance." Commencement will begin at 10 a.m.

Complete coverage of 2014 Commencement will be available in the May 27 issue of CenterView. For more information, call Dorothy Singleton at 5-4883.
