Humanities in Medicine to examine dueling

Forbes_AmyThis year’s Humanities in Medicine program will consider a precursor to alternative dispute resolution that was less amicable but more definitive – the duel.
Millsaps history professor Amy Wiese Forbes will present “Doctors and Dueling: Establishing Medical Authority in French New Orleans” at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 18 in the upper amphitheater (R354).  A box lunch will be provided to the first 100 attendees.

Dr. Forbes is associate professor of history and director of European studies at the college. The event is sponsored by the UMMC Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities.
