Habitat homeowner settles in to new digs
Michelle Owens, a licensed practical nurse at the Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health Center, receives the keys to her new house during the Habitat for Humanity/Metro Jackson dedication and celebration May 6.
The Medical Center is one of four Jackson-area health-care institutions who participated in building the house for Owens and her two daughters. Also participating in the build were Baptist Health Systems, St. Dominic Health Services and the five metro-area hospitals of Health Management Associates.
"I'm very thankful for everyone who worked on my home, all of the volunteers, the medical centers and habitat staff," Owens said. "It's almost like my colleagues stepped in to build me a home. I enjoyed working with all of them. They are great people." (Enlarge Photo)
