Scholarship on display at research event
James Thompson, M2, discusses his project, "Pavlovian Conditioning to Immunosuppressive Agents in Normal Volunteers," with Dr. Michael Garrett, associate professor of pharmacology and toxicology, during the poster session of the Department of Medicine's Research Day event April 4 in the second-floor conference center of the Norman C. Nelson Student Union.
Dr. Yan Lu, instructor in nephrology, won the first place award for his poster, "Deletion of nNOS in the Macula Densa Induces Salt-sensitive Hypertension," during the event.
Other poster competition prize winners included:
• Dr. Kiran Chandrashekar, postdoctoral research fellow in nephrology, received the second place award for the poster, "Sildenafil Protects against Acute and Chronic Renal Injury in Part Via cGMP-independent Increases in Heme Oxygenase (HO)."
• Dr. Adesh Patel, resident in allergy and immunology, received an honorable mention award for the poster, "An Evaluation of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Therapies for Asthma on the Internet."
• Andrew Gilder, research fellow in oncology, received an honorable mention award for the poster, "Fem1b Attenuates, the Transcriptional Activity of Gli1 by Promoting the Ubiquitin Mediated Degradation of Gli1."
