AOA society inducts 20 UMMC students
Fourth-year medical students inducted into the Mississippi Chapter of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society March 7 at the Fairview Inn in Jackson include, from left, Ryves Moore, Caleb Dulaney, Elaine Pigman, Jake Lancaster, Kaitlyn Gilham, Peyton Hines, Sue Park, Andrew Meador, Ashley Emerson, Allison Jones, Julia Thompson and Jim Griffith.
The chapter also inducted seven third-year medical students: William Armstrong, Miles Dunbar, Clara Gomez-Sanchez, Caleb Graham, Benjamin Pace, Brandon Phillips and Erin Smith.
Dominique Pepper received the AOA Resident of the Year Award and Dr. S. Calvin Thigpen, assistant professor of medicine, received the AOA Faculty of the Year Award.
Dr. Gene Hoyme, chief academic officer and president of Sanford Research at the University of South Dakota, discussed the importance of mentorship in an academic career at the event. (Enlarge Image)
