MIND Center at UMMC to open new clinic location with reception

WHAT: The Memory Impairment and Neurodegenerative Dementia (MIND) Center will officially open the MIND Center Clinic with a gauze cutting and reception. The clinic is the first of its kind for the Medical Center.

WHEN: Thursday, March 6. Reception 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. with speakers taking the podium at 7 p.m.

WHERE: Suite F at the University Physicians Pavilion on the Medical Center campus, Jackson

DIRECTIONS AND PARKING: From I-55, exit at Woodrow Wilson Ave., turn right toward the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Hospital and immediately left. Continue in front of the VA Hospital. Following the second stop sign, turn right onto East University Dr. on the UMMC campus. The University Physicians Pavilion entrance is on the left.

WHY: Alzheimer’s and other dementia-causing disease are affecting more Mississippians as the average of the state’s population increases. With the opening of its clinic, the MIND Center at UMMC moves from a research-based operation to one that also provides patient care. The clinic will offer evaluative services, diagnosis and early intervention for memory loss.
