JACKSON, Miss. – Metro area residents looking for affordable health insurance coverage, or who are just seeing answers about the Affordable Care Act, will have an opportunity meet in person with health insurance marketplace navigators and other experts during a three-day event beginning Tuesday at the Eudora Welty Library in Jackson.

The federally sponsored event will be held Tuesday-Thursday, Jan. 14-16 at the library, 300 N. State St. in downtown Jackson from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

The health insurance marketplace, part of the Affordable Care Act, allows people in certain income ranges to buy private-market insurance plans at discounted rates. Navigators are trained professionals, unaffiliated with any insurance company, who provide answers, guidance and explanation.

Navigators from UMMC will be present to answer questions and assist with enrollment daily from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The event is organized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid in conjunction with the Eudora Welty Library, Mississippi Department of Health and the Jackson-Hinds Comprehensive Health Center.
