UMMC breast cancer expert to be available for interviews

Media Contact: Jack Mazurak at 601-984-1970 or jmasurak@umc.edu.

WHAT:  UMMC breast cancer expert Dr. Sophy Mangana will be available for interviews as part of the Department of Radiation Oncology’s public outreach during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

WHEN:  Tomorrow 9:30-10:30 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 18

WHERE:  UMMC Department of Radiation Oncology, Jackson Medical Mall. Inside the main mall area on the north end

WHY:  Breast cancer kills far too many Mississippi women every year. And unfortunately Mississippi has some of the highest rates nationally for incidence of late-stage breast cancer. But if caught early, breast cancer is quite treatable. These rates can be drastically reduced through awareness, prevention and screenings. Dr. Mangana, assistant professor of radiation oncology, will be available to discuss these topics.
