Alzheimer's Action Day

WHAT: Alzheimer’s Action Day, featuring a brown bag lunch discussion by Dr. Alexander Auchus, professor and chair of neurology, followed by free ice cream on the Student Union patio. Local Alzheimer’s experts and local caregivers will be available for interview.

WHEN: Noon – 3 p.m.

WHERE: The School of Health Related Professions Lecture Hall 1B, followed by ice cream at the Norman C. Nelson Student Union on the UMMC campus

WHY: UMMC’s Memory Impairment and Neurodegenerative Dementia (MIND) Center is holding the event to promote national Alzheimer’s Action Day, as well as to join the Mississippi Department of Mental Health and the Alzheimer’s Association Mississippi Chapter in encouraging all Mississippians to “Paint it Purple!” for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. Additionally, the Alzheimer’s Disease International will release it’s World Alzheimer’s Report today, which will focus on the stigma associated with the disease.
