Employees to get Quick Care in LMB

Otolaryngology and Communicative Sciences isn’t the only department that will be moving a clinic to the Lakeland Medical Building this quarter.

At the end of May, the Department of Family Medicine’s Quick Care Clinic for UMMC employees and their immediate dependents is scheduled to move to the second floor of the building at 764 Lakeland Drive. The clinic will be open for business in its new location at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 3.

Dr. Deborah O’Bryan and the Quick Care Clinic staff will continue to provide same-day care for common and acute illnesses, such as sore throats, earaches, upper respiratory illnesses, urinary tract infections, flu and gastrointestinal infections and minor emergencies, including sprains or rashes as well as yearly preventive medicine physicals.

Housed within the Family Medicine Center, the Quick Care Clinic will offer timelier access to additional services, such as X-rays and lab studies, according to Dr. Diane Beebe, chair of family medicine.

“At the Pavilion location, patients had to go to another area in the Pavilion to get certain lab tests and X-rays,” Beebe said. “Now we can do all that in one connected suite. It’s a quicker turnaround, which is more convenient for our employees. And for employees with children, we can offer more comprehensive pediatric care than at our former location.

“For our patients who have identified with Dr. O’Bryan, we hope they make the Lakeland location their new clinic home.”

Quick Care Clinic patient parking is available in the back of the building. Walk-ins are welcome, and credit/debit cards and payroll deduction are accepted. To schedule an appointment, call 4-6800.
