• How to Install and Use Mobile Applications for Selected Rowland Medical Library Databases

    VisualDX iPhone, iTouch, iPadAndroid

    • Go to the VisualDX database on our website (located under "Quick Links") and you will see:

    • Click on "Learn how" to create a username and password for your mobile app.

    • Go to the app store on your phone and download the free app.

    • Login using your username and password.

    DynaMed i-Phone, i-TouchBlackberryAndroid Palm Windows Mobile

    • Before installing the mobile app, you will need to request a serial number by e-mailing dynamedsupport@ebscohost.com.  You will need to include the following information: Your full name, the name of your institution, and what type of device (iPhone, iPad, Android) you have. 

    • Go to this link and choose your phone type for installation instructions http://dynamed.ebscohost.com/access/mobile

    • NOTE: Each DynaMed serial number lasts for 1 year.  Please contact thedynamedsupport@ebscohost.com for a new number when the current one expires.

    Micromedex i-Phone, i-TouchAndroid

    • Go to the iTunes App Store or Google Play, search for "Micromedex Drug Information," and install the app. 

    BrowZine iPhone, iTouch, iPadAndroid

    • Go to the iTunes App Store or Google Play, search for "BrowZine" and install the app.

    • For desktop use go to:  http://browzine.com (for off-campus use, log in with UMMC id/password, then select UMMC Rowland Medical Library)

    Nursing Reference CenteriPhone, iTouch, iPad

    • Click on E-databases, located under Resources on the RML webpage.

    • Click on "N" and then Nursing Reference Center.

    • Scroll to the bottom and click on NRC iPhone/iTouch application

    • Enter your email to receive further instructions

    PubMed iPhone, iTouch, iPad

    • 2 versions available from the Apple App Store

      • PubMed on Tap --$2.99

      • PubMed on Tap Lite --FREE (has all features of the full version but only returns 10 records per search)

      • Each version allows filters; use of AND, OR, NOT; email references as formatted text or as RIS tagged record for reference management applications, link to full text through web browser, ordering through Lonesome Doc

    • There are 2 mobile versions of PubMed which can be accessed through any web browser

    • http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/  This is a simplified version of the standard PubMed

    • http://pubmedhh.nlm.nih.gov/    This version has additional options, including a PICO search, searching with filters, or for systematic reviews or clinical queries  

    UpToDate iPhone, iTouch, iPadAndroidWindows Mobile

    • UpToDate may be accessed on your mobile browser from ON-CAMPUS ONLY.

    • From your mobile device, go to RML's webpage and click on UpToDate, located under Quick Links.

    • If you have an individual subscription to UpToDate and want to download the mobile app, clickUpToDate Mobile Access

    STAT!Ref E-Book Titles iPhone, iTouch, iPad BlackberryAndroid

    •  From ON CAMPUS, go to RML's homepage at www.umc.edu/library.
    • Under "Resources," click on "E-Books" and choose any STAT!Ref title (i.e. ACP Pier).
    • Click on "My STAT!Ref," located at the top right corner of the page.
    • Create an account.
    • Click on "Temporary Login Account" and then click "Activate."
    • Go to your mobile device and download the STAT!Ref app.
    • After the app has been downloaded click on it and log in using your username and password from the account you created.
    • From the STAT!Ref app, choose the book title you want.

    EBSCO databases iPhone, iTouch, iPadAndroid
    (Alt Health Watch, CINAHL, Cochrane Databases, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE), Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition, Health Technology Assessments,PsychINFO, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection)

    • The EBSCOHost app for iPhone and iTouch is available from the app store but must be activated after downloading

    • Go to E-Databases, located under Resources on the RML webpage.

    • Type in the name of the database for which you are searching.
    • Scroll to the bottom of the database page and clink on "EBSCOHost iPhone and Android applications."  Enter your email address to receive the instructions for downloading the app.
    • Once activated, open and click settings at the bottom to select databases, publication dates and/or full-text or peer-reviewed search options.
