  • Schools at UMMC

As Mississippi’s sole academic medical center, the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson offers baccalaureate, professional and graduate degrees in critically important health care and biomedical science disciplines.

In 1955, UMMC opened its doors to four-year medical and graduate students. Now, in addition to providing clinical facilities for students matriculating at the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy, UMMC’s five professional schools enroll nearly 3,000 students in 28 degree programs. Along with our four-year program leading to the doctor of medicine degree, UMMC offers Mississippi’s only baccalaureate and professional degree programs in dentistry, physical therapy, occupational therapy and dental hygiene.

These five UMMC schools educate the majority of Mississippi’s health care providers, as well as many of its biomedical researchers. Together, UMMC faculty and students contribute to the ongoing leadership needed to meet Mississippi’s health challenges.
