Assistant Professor of Nursing
Dr. Sandra Stanton, assistant professor, received her Associate Degree in Nursing from Northeast Mississippi Community College in 1992, followed by her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007 and her Master of Science in Nursing in 2010 from the University of Mississippi School of Nursing. She completed her PhD in Nursing Education and Administration at William Carey University in 2015. Her research interest is health literacy.
She serves as the academic counselor for students in the RN-MSN program and assists with recruiting for north Mississippi. She teaches in both undergraduate and graduate courses. Her specialties include maternal-child nursing, community-health nursing and psychiatric nursing. Along with her faculty role, she serves as a legal nurse consultant for various law firms throughout the Southeast.
She has been an active member of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee and numerous professional organizations, including the Mississippi Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International and Phi Kappa Phi. She currently serves as president of the Mississippi/Alabama chapter of the Transcultural Nursing Society.
