Dr. Fazlay Faruque brings GIS and remote sensing techniques to the health scientists to conduct spatial analysis for epidemiological and health care-related studies. Dr. Faruque is a graduate faculty member, and he offers courses on GIS and environmental health to students across campus. His research interests include geographic health disparities; air pollution modeling using satellite data; and spatial epidemiology. Dr. Faruque is the director of the GIS and Remote Sensing program at UMMC. So far, more than $3.5 million have been awarded to this program for a variety of projects.
