    A trauma and critical care surgeon, Dr. Larry C. Martin received the BS in biology from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, in 1977. He earned the MD at the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, in 1982. He completed a general surgery residency in 1987 and served as chief resident in general surgery from 1986-87 at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he also served as a fellow in trauma surgery from 1987-88.

    He joined the faculty at the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1987 as an instructor of clinical surgery and rose through the academic ranks to become an associate professor of clinical surgery there in 1993. While at UM, he served as an attending surgeon and medical director of trauma services and division director of trauma services at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center.

    In 1996, Martin joined the Ohio State University Medical Center faculty as an associate professor of surgery and medical director of trauma services. While there, he also served as medical director of surgical critical care services and the Surgical Intensive Care Unit and as program director of the Surgical Critical Care Residency Program. In 2007, Martin joined the University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, as a professor of surgery and division director of acute care surgery.

    The co-author of five books and monographs and more than 60 articles for peer-reviewed publications, Martin is an active member of several professional organizations and is a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. He has given numerous presentations at medical conferences nationwide.
