A person's first interest and accomplishment is mastering the field of medicine. The second is pursuing a career in the specialty field of radiation oncology. Thank you for your interest and looking into the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) Radiation Oncology residency program. The Department of Radiation Oncology is part of the UMMC Cancer Institute and is a full academic department recognized for cancer treatments and research studies. Our faculty of radiation oncologists and our education team are dedicated to the education and training of our residents in the clinical care of cancer patients and the use of radiation therapy for treatment. The program is oriented toward providing residents with a solid foundation for understanding the scientific advances that are constant in this field. Emphasis is placed on the development and assessment of residents' skills in each of the following competencies also required by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
