Located at the Jackson Medical Mall, the Psychiatry Specialty Clinic (PSC) is the primary ambulatory clinic for the Department of Psychiatry. The PSC provides comprehensive evaluation and medical management of a broad variety of psychiatric conditions organized by psychiatric specialty. Available psychiatric specialty services include: mood/anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, child/adolescent psychiatry, neurocognitive disorders, and substance use disorders. The clinic also incorporates an LGBT initiative, designed to support this segment of the population in an affirming and accepting environment. We are dedicated to providing quality care to the citizens of Mississippi and welcome patients from all areas of the state based on need, although the majority of our clinic population is from the tri-county area: Hinds, Madison, and Rankin. Patients are referred through physicians, other mental health providers, or by self-referral. Patients are accepted into the PSC according to clinical, educational, and research appropriateness. Patients are seen using a team-based approach including medical students and psychiatry residents under the direct supervision of our clinical faculty, and the Director of Outpatient Psychiatry oversees the clinic operations, ensuring the best possible medical care for our patients. We are a medical stabilization clinic, designed to refer patients back to community resources once stable, which allows us to continually accept new patients in need of the best medical care we can provide. Patients at our clinic will receive dedicated, caring, and respectful treatment by a team of providers dedicated to improving the mental health of the citizens of our state.
