Dr. Kim Geisinger joined the Department in July, 2014. He had been Director of Surgical Pathology and of Cytology at Wake Forest University for 25 years. As an academic anatomic pathologist, his interests are diverse and include gastrointestinal diseases, thoracic neoplasms, breast disorders, and general cytology, especially fine needle aspiration biopsies.
He graduated from Drexel University and the Medical College of Pennsylvania, both in Philadelphia. His anatomic and clinical pathology residency was at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He then completed a cytopathology fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
Dr.Geisinger has over 250 published articles in the medical literature and 4 textbooks, all of the latter dealing with cytology. A new text on tumors of the lower respiratory tract is in press.
He is a member of a number of professional organizations including the AMA, ASCP, USCAP, CAP and the Papanicolaou Society; he served of the President of the last one.
