  • Residency Program

The Department of Physical Therapy in the School of Health Related Professions at the University of Mississippi Medical Center supports physical therapy residency programs in neurologic and sports physical therapy practice.

The mission for the residency programs is to develop reflective, evidence-based specialist practitioners who are critical thinkers and empathetic lifelong learners, representative of the best clinicians in the physical therapy profession.

These programs are designed to offer physical therapists the opportunity to develop clinical skills in either of these two areas of specialty practice, as outlined by the "Description of Specialty Practice" in the areas of sports physical therapy and neurologic physical therapy.  Residents will also be well positioned to achieve the Certified Specialist certification by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties in the respective area.
