  • Admissions

    In addition to the admission standards of the institution and the general admission requirements of the School of Health Related Professions, candidates seeking admission to the health informatics and information management program must: 

    • Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale;
    • Submit ACT scores;
    • Have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours of academic credit from an regionally accredited institution of higher learning; and,
    • Successfully complete (a grade of C or better) the following minimum prerequisite requirements:

     1Students enrolled in a quarter academic calendar must complete the required sequence of courses which are equivalent to University of Mississippi courses.

     2Social and behavioral sciences include courses such as anthropology, economics, political science, psychology or sociology.

     3Humanities and fine arts include courses such as history, literature, foreign languages, journalism, philosophy, religion, art history, music appreciation or theater.

    The application with all supporting documents should be submitted by March 1 of the year in which the candidate desires enrollment. The application deadline for fall 2017 HIIM admissions has been extended to May 15, 2017.

    Health Insurance

    All students attending the University of Mississippi Medical Center must show proof of health insurance coverage.  Students may complete a waiver showing coverage already obtained or may enroll in the group plan offered by the Medical Center.  More information on this requirement may be found online in the UMMC Bulletin or on the Student Accounting webpage.  Any questions should be directed to the Office of Student Accounting at 601-984-1060.
