The mission of the UMMC Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) is to build and sustain faculty vitality in our schools, our teaching hospitals, clinical service areas and research environments. Our office is particularly focused on the development and implementation of institutional policies, procedures, and processes that advance our faculty in the academic missions of education, research and clinical service. We embrace a diverse faculty whose differences synergize our threefold mission.
The Office of Faculty Development (OFD) for the University of Mississippi Medical Center serves to promote the fullest capacities of faculty as academic leaders in education, service to the Medical Center mission and in cooperation with the Office of Research, in aspects of the research endeavor.
The UMMC Faculty Senate is a committee consisting of nominated and elected members drawn from the pool of faculty at the University Medical Center. The Faculty Senate exists such that the faculty shall assume its proper share of the responsibility for making academic decisions, for the protection of academic freedoms within a framework of due process and for the general advancement of the University of Mississippi Medical Center. To accomplish these goals, the Faculty Senate will make recommendations to the administration on policies affecting the University Medical Center; to make the general faculty aware of ongoing activities and projects currently being discussed by the Senate, and to keep the general faculty informed of its recommendations.
