Intramural sports are a very important part of our extracurricular activities on campus. For some, they offer an opportunity to relive the glory days. For others, they are a way to relieve some stress. Everyone can agree, however, that they are a great way to meet new people and have some fun outside of the classroom.

Over the past few years the ASB has offered five sports: dodgeball, flag football, volleyball, basketball and soccer. However, this year the ASB is looking to take our intramural programs to the next level by increasing the number of opportunities our students have to get involved. This plan is already underway as we are proud to announce our newest addition to UMMC intramurals our very own fall indoor soccer league.

The fall season begins with the ever-popular flag football and will overlap with our new indoor soccer league. The fall semester is then capped off with volleyball, which extends into the winter months. Soon after the conclusion of volleyball, we will be starting up our five-on-five basketball league for the early spring semester.

This year, however, I am pleased to announce that we have already been working on two more additions to the spring semester; both of which have come by popular demand. So stay tuned for more information.

Finally, we have our outdoor soccer league as the last sport of the traditional school year that typically ends sometime in May. However, the fun doesn't have to stop there because shortly after the conclusion of the spring semester, the intramurals will keep rolling on with the summer dodgeball league. A league that is certain to help those of us who have seen their last summer vacation through the hot summer months.

The games are always fun and in this high-stakes environment can get quite competitive. So gear up, do your best, and support your team if you are less athletically inclined.
