Medical Alumni Chapter Hall of Fame Information

The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to honor those medical chapter alumni who have made an outstanding contribution to their country, state or the University of Mississippi Medical Center through their good deeds, services or contributions, all of which have perpetuated the good name of the University of Mississippi Medical Center.

Any living or deceased alumna/alumnus, faculty and staff of UMMC shall be eligible to be nominated.

Up to five (5) persons will be selected each year from the nominations presented. The persons selected as members of the Hall of Fame will be presented at the Medical Alumni Awards ceremony.

Selection criteria

  • An alumnus who has “…made an outstanding contribution to their Country, State or The University of Mississippi Medical Center through their good deeds, services, contributions, all of which have perpetuated the good name of The University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine.
  • To be eligible for induction, desirable recipients must agree to be present at the Hall of Fame ceremony (unless deceased). This requirement may be waived under extra special circumstances by the selection committee.
  • A nominee may be selected the first year he or she is nominated.
  • The following individuals may not be considered for the award: Active politicians; current faculty; UMMC employees if employed by the University during the fiscal year (July 1-June 30) in which the award is presented; and current Alumni Chapter officers.
  • Diversity is encouraged by careful consideration of the following: Past Presidents of the Medical Alumni Chapter; geographic distribution; careers; gender and race.
  • Nominees who are not selected are removed from consideration after three years unless they are re-nominated.
  • Deceased alumni not to exceed two per year.
