    Isolation requirements

    • Disease: Tularemia (draining skin lesion or pneumonia)
    • Category: Standard Precautions
    • Comments: Not transmitted person to person. Notify Clinical Microbiology (4-2358) if tularemia suspected since it requires special handling. Known or suspected case of tularemia pneumonia may represent a bioterrorism event. Immediately contact the Mississippi Department of Health at (601) 576-7725 and the Infection Control Department at 4-2188 for assistance.

    This is a Class 1 reportable disease.

    • Class 1: Diseases of major or public health importance which shall be reported directly to the Department of Health by telephone within 24 hours of first knowledge or suspicion.
