    • Disease: Syphilis
    • Skin and mucous membrane, including congenital, primary, secondary
      • Category: Standard
      • Infective material: Skin lesions and blood
      • Comments: Skin lesions of primary and secondary syphilis are highly infectious. These lesions rapidly become non-infectious following specific therapy.
    • Latent (tertiary) and seropositivity without lesions
      • Category: Standard

    Class 1

    This is a Class 1 reportable disease.

    • Class 1: Diseases of major or public health importance which shall be reported directly to the Department of Health by telephone within 24 hours of first knowledge or suspicion.
