  • Scabies

    Isolation requirements

    • Disease: Scabies
    • Category: Contact Precautions
    • Duration of isolation: Until patient has received effective therapy for 24 hours
    • Comments: Health care providers having direct contact with infected patients should seek therapy with the Student-Employee Health Department. Patient's rooms do not require fumigation since mites are short-lived off the host. Contact Infection Control at 4-2188 for assistance. For suspected cases of scabies crustosa (formerly referred to as crusted scabies or Norwegian scabies), contact Infectious Diseases 4-5560 for assistance.
