    Isolation requirements

    • Disease: Anthrax*
    • Category: Standard; Use Contact precautions in cases of cutaneous disease with large amounts of drainage that cannot be contained.
    • Comments: A case could represent a bioterrorism event. For suspected or confirmed cases immediately call the Mississippi Department of Health at (601) 572-7725 and Infection Control at (601) 984-2188.     This is a Class 1 reportable disease.

    • Class 1: Diseases of major or public health importance which shall be reported directly to the Department of Health by telephone within 24 hours of first knowledge or suspicion.
