  • Health Careers Development Program

     The Health Careers Development Program (HCDP) is an eight week program that provides observational learning opportunities designed to help undergraduate, graduate, and professional students/learners to explore career opportunities in  health care and understand the education and skills that different occupations require. 

    Opportunities are available to shadow:

    • Physicians
    • Researchers
    • Dentists
    • Pharmacists
    • Nurse practitioners
    • Physician assistants
    • Nurses
    • Physical therapists
    • Occupational therapists
    • Dental hygienists
    • Respiratory therapists


    HCDP Component

    HCDP consists of the following:

    The Health Careers Development Program Term for undergraduate, graduate, and professional observers is 8 weeks long.  Each participant can receive up to 40 hours of shadowing experience and credit.

     Fall 2015: Sept. 22, 2015 - Nov. 14, 2015

    • Deadline for application:  July 25, 2015

    Winter 2015: Nov. 24, 2015 - Jan. 16, 2016

    • Deadline for applications: Oct. 24, 2015

    Spring 2016: Feb. 2, 2016 - April 13, 2016

    • Deadline for applications: Jan. 2, 2016

    Summer 2016:  May 4, 2016 - June 26, 2016

    • Deadline for applications: April 3, 2016
