The Office of Student Financial Aid offers Federal Work Study based on the belief that students with financial need should contribute towards their educational expenses by working part-time. Work-study funds are very limited, and not all eligible applicants receive an award. Work-study awards are offered in the order in which the applications are received.

    Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for a Work-Study position, a student must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), receive a Work-Study award as part of his or her financial aid package, and enroll at least half time. At the undergraduate level, half time is six to 11 credits and at the graduate level, half time is 5 credits.

Students who receive a work study award should keep in mind the following:

    1. You may work up to 20 hours per week.
    2. Your supervisor must submit a work-study request to the Financial Aid Office.
    3. Your supervisor must submit a PAR to the Financial Aid Office.
    4. Allow three to five weeks from the date that you are hired to receive your first paycheck

A work-study award is not an employment guarantee.
