Dr. LouAnn Woodward, chair of the search committee, offered these comments:

"For this search, we engaged a national search firm that specializes in placing top level executives in academic medicine. The slate of candidates presented for consideration represented a broad range of specialties and geographic locations. We were thrilled with the national interest in Mississippi."

"After completion of an intensive first round of interviews, we are excited to bring back these two outstanding candidates. While we have, by definition, an external candidate and an internal candidate, it is interesting to note that the external candidate received his medical school and residency training at this institution and the internal candidate received his training outside of Mississippi. These two gentlemen are extraordinarily well-rounded, intelligent and proven leaders in academic medicine who are poised to lead the Medical Center into the new decade."

Medical Center faculty, staff and students are invited to attend a presentation by the candidates. Dr. Robbins will speak at noon, Monday, Jan. 25 in R-153. Dr. Stringer will present at noon, Wednesday, Jan. 27, in R-153.
