Thank you for your invaluable service to UMMC. When planning Hospital Week activities, the goal was to provide meaningful activities to show appreciation to the people who really make this hospital shine while at the same time being good stewards of our money. UMMC Employee Appreciation Night at the Ballpark

UMMC employees enjoyed discounted tickets for the Mississippi Braves minor league baseball team at Trustmark Park on Thursday, May 10.  There was also an appearance by American Idol Alum Skylar Laine.  The attendance for this event was more than 7500.

The winner of the autographed Braves baseball is Rebecca Stanton.

Team Spirit Award

We did 116 Team Spirit Awards covering such areas as 2 North, 2 South, 3 Circle, 3 North, 3 South, 4-C, 4 North, 4 South, 5 North, 5 South, 4 Wiser, 7 East, 7 West, CBO, Adult ER, Cardiac Rehab at Select, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Coordinated Care, Family Medicine (Bldg. LB), Hospital Administration, Hospital Education, Housekeeping, HR, Integrated Access, Main Lab, Medical Records, Medical Staff Services, Nurse Recruitment, Nursing Excellence, Performance Improvement, Pastoral Services, Patient Affairs, Pediatric Critical Care Transport, Post Office, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Respiratory, Sterile Processing, Stroke Program, Surgery, University Heart, and Valet.

Trading Spaces

Employees entered a drawing to "trade spaces" with an administrator for one week.  The administrator will trade parking places with the employee who parks in the stadium parking lot for Hospital and Nurses Week.  Winners to be announced.



Administrators who volunteered their on-campus parking spaces for a week as part of a “Spirit of the U – 2012 Hospital and Nurses Week” promotional drawing file onto a shuttle to Veterans Memorial Stadium while the employees who received their spaces bid them adieu. Other events to celebrate Hospital Week May 7-11 included UMMC Employee Appreciation Night at Trustmark Park, Team Spirit Awards, “Catch the UMMC Spirit” videos, food services discounts, retirement seminars and cooking demonstrations.  (Enlarge Photo)




Night Force Cooking Demonstrations

The Night Force Meeting on Tuesday and Thursday night during Hospital and Nurses week treated employees to two cooking demonstrations.  Dr. Ruth Black presented a Blessing of the Hands and then Chefs Michael Moyes and Emmitt Taylor prepared catfish tacos.

At the Thursday night meeting, there was a drawing for 4 sets of Geyser Falls tickets. The winners on the sheet attached. They were:

1.    Sammye Harris, Flow Tech in NICU, OB receiving, labor and delivery, ADU. He has worked here 3 years.

2.    Kelli Harris, RN, is a nurse resident on 2C and has worked here 8 months.

3.    Beverly Thompson, unit secretary on the BMT Unit has been here 6 years.

4.    Sherron Carter, RT, is a clinical instructor with Respiratory Therapy and has worked here 1 year PRN.
