FEE Admission Information
Admission criteria
- Freshman status at participating FEE institution;
- Minimum ACT score of 24;
- Minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
FEE applicants at Tougaloo College, Millsaps College or Belhaven University must notify the School of Nursing of your interest in the Freshman Early-Entry program. Please contact nsrecruiter@umc.edu.

Students, who attend on the FEE-participating colleges or universities, declare pre-nursing as a major, meet the admission criteria and submit an application by the Nov. 1 deadline of their freshman year, will be considered for the program. In addition, students, who have declared interest in the Freshman Early-Entry program and who meet the FEE criteria, will receive the FEE application instructions from the School of Nursing.
How to apply
Applications are accepted beginning July 1 each year.
- A complete application (Select "Traditional BSN" as the program of study);
- A non-refundable $25 application fee paid by credit card or by check, made payable to the University of Mississippi Medical Center;
- Official high school transcript and ACT scores, submitted to the UMMC Office of Student Records and Registrar.
Participating schools
The FEE program is a joint offering of the University of Mississippi Medical Center, the University of Mississippi and other participating colleges and universities in the Jackson-metropolitan area: Belhaven University, Millsaps College and Tougaloo College. If you wish to participate in the FEE program, you must complete your prerequisites at one of these four institutions. The application for admission should indicate that the chosen major is pre-nursing.

Matriculation into BSN program
Upon completion of the second year of prerequisite coursework at the participating institution, if you meet the progression and retention criteria and have completed all prerequisite courses, you will be admitted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Nursing in Jackson, Miss. Official acceptance is contingent upon the successful completion of several UMMC requirements, including a background check.
Progression and retention
In order to retain status in the Freshman Early-Entry program, the student must meet the following conditions:
- Continuous enrollment as a full-time student at the participating institution in each regular semester session;
- After acceptance into the FEE program, completion of all required courses at the participating institution (Elective courses may be taken at other institutions);
- Minimum cumulative overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in required courses every semester.
Please note: Any grade less than a “C” in a required course will result in dismissal from the FEE program.

- All transcripts become the property of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and cannot be returned to the applicant or forwarded to another school or individual. Transcripts must be sent directly by the school to the Office of Student Records and Registrar.

- Facsimile documents will not be accepted.
- Transcripts must be submitted to the Office of Student Records and Registrar at the end of each semester until all prerequisite requirements are completed.
- Report any name, address or phone number change to the Office of Student Records and Registrar.
- Do not send application materials to the School of Nursing.
- All grades, including failing grades and grades on repeat courses, are used to calculate preadmission grade point averages.
- The applicant is responsible for notifying the Office of Student Records and Registrar of all changes to the plan of study.
- Out-of-state tuition charges apply for all applicants that live outside the state of Mississippi.
