    Thank you for your invaluable service to UMMC. When planning Hospital Week activities, the goal was to provide meaningful activities to show appreciation to the people who really make this hospital shine while at the same time being good stewards of our money. If you would like to share any thoughts related to the week, we welcome your comments.

    Trading Spaces:

    trading spacesEmployees who park at Veterans Memorial Stadium may enter a contest to win the right to park for a week in coveted on-campus slots used by Medical Center administrators and directors. Entries are being accepted at the guest services desk in the University Hospital lobby. Entries also can be e-mailed with “trading spaces” in the subject line to Employees should include their employee number, extension number, department, and shift in the e-mail, which must be received by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 7.

    Gourment Food Trucks:

    food truckFood trucks will line up alongside the Arthur C. Guyton Research Center courtyard (immediately south of the building) from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 12, to offer items for sale, including hamburgers, tacos, steak or chicken sandwiches, cookies and iced tea. Vendors are:

        •  One Guy Steak & Chicken
        •  Tito’s Tacos
        •  McAlister’s Deli (tea/cookies)

        •  Country Fisherman Café

    Cash or credit cards accepted.

    Free Hot Dog Lunch:

    In keeping with our hospital week theme of “Riding the Wave Into Our Future,” employees are encouraged to wear a tropical Hawaiian shirt on the day of their department’s hot dog meal, with approval from their manager. The shirts must be collared, short sleeved, and button down the front. T-shirts and sleeveless or strapless tops aren’t allowed; pants, skirts and shoes will follow the usual dress code.

    Blessing of the Hands:

    Join us in this tradition for direct care worker and non-patient care workers as well. Our pastoral staff will be conducting this service, Wednesday, May 14, at 7:30 a.m. in the Chapel.

    LifeSync Webinar

    Our employee assistance program provider, LifeSync, will present a webinar “Getting the Best from Stress Before it Gets the Best of You” Wednesday, May 14, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. Participants will need to log in to the webinar to see the presentation and dial in to hear it. Gather your co-workers, grab some lunch, and go to this address to participate:

    UMMC Night at Mississippi Braves:

    UMMC night at the Mississippi Braves game will be Thursday, May 15th, at Trustmark Park in Pearl. Gates open at 6:00 p.m., game begins at 7:00. We will host first pitches, a group of employees will sing the national anthem, and the AirCare helicopter will “fly over” the stadium.     2500 Club Toastmasters:

    “Laugh at Work … Experience the Magic of 2500 Club Toastmasters”

    This is the grand finale of our week long events for employee appreciation week. UMMC’s 2500 Club Toastmasters members and others will showcase their communication and leadership skills during this culminating event. This event will be held Friday, May 16, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. in CW106. “Laughter and humor are an important part of the workplace.
