Rhonda Hale's Healthy Journal

Not many people would be willing to open up a private part of their lives to public scrutiny, but, in her battle with Type 2 diabetes, Rhonda Hale has decided to do just that.

The idea came to her during a leadership development meeting last year, not long after she was diagnosed. “Everyone was asked what they are passionate about,” said Hale, assistant CFO for University Physicians, “and about 90 percent of the group answered, ‘making people healthier.’”

In her own struggle to become healthier, she realized she might be able to motivate her fellow employees at UMMC by sharing her progress with them. “Making Mississippi healthy must be accomplished one person at a time, beginning with me,” she said. This is her journey.
