Smith presents abstracts at national meeting
Dr. Andrew Smith, assistant professor of radiology and director of radiology research, presented research abstracts of two studies at the American Roentgen Ray Society's 2013 annual meeting recently.
Smith and a team of investigators from radiology, the School of Health Related Professions and the Center for Biostatistics and Bioinformatics, in collaboration with the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, used CT imaging and a serum biomarker to predict survival in patients with metastatic melanoma treated with anti-angiogenic therapy.
Smith and the radiology and Center for Biostatistics and Bioinformatics team also completed a similar research project using a CT imaging biomarker to predict survival in patients with metastatic kidney cancer treated with anti-angiogenic therapy. Smith was the primary investigator of both studies.
