Breast cancer survivor, oncologist available to discuss awareness, prevention

WHEN: Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 10 a.m. -11 a.m.
 




WHERE: Department of Radiation Oncology, Jackson Medical Mall. The department is accessible through the north central entrance on the mall’s east side, facing Bailey Avenue.
 


WHY: To highlight its Breast Cancer Awareness Day, the department will host an open house with refreshments. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and, recognizing that 2,371 Mississippians were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010 according to the Mississippi Cancer Registry, the department seeks to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of the disease and of the treatments available. Media can meet health-care professionals whose job it is to fight cancer, tour the department’s inviting facilities and see the department’s precision, computer-guided machinery.
