UMC Home • Health Care • Medical Pavilion The University Medical Pavilion at the University of Mississippi Medical center is the first freestanding clinic in the United States to employ the mall design in the delivery of outpatient health care. All basic services are under one roof. The common waiting areas under a skylight roof are both spacious and comfortable. All the specialty clinics open onto the mall. The west entrance, covered and equipped with wheelchair ramp and automatic sliding glass doors, is also the designated entrance for the disabled. The pavilion is the practice site for the University Physicians, a group of physicians from many disiplines who teach at the University of Mississippi Medical Center and see their patients here. The structure, more than 80,000 square feet, adjoins the James D. Hardy Clinical Sciences building on the Medical Center campus. Two hundred and fifty free parking spaces are available to patients just outside the building's front entrance, and motorists have easy access to the parking lot from Woodrow Wilson Boulevard. Patients can receive most of the procedures they require right in the pavilion which has its own full service lab, full service radiology including mammography, and its own MRI. A fully equipped physical therapy room is adjacent to the orthopedics clinic. A full range of cardiology testing is also available in the pavilion including echocardiograms and cardiac stress testing. Procedures such as bone marrow aspirations, lumbar punctures, endoscopy and minor surgery also are performed in the pavilion. |
