In addition to this legacy of excellence, UMMC nursing students receive an unprecedented educational experience on an academic health science campus. On the UMMC campus, students participate in clinical learning experiences in four major hospitals - Batson Children's Hospital, University Hospital , Wallace Conerly Critical Care Hospital and Wiser Hospital for Women and Infants. UMMC also has the state’s only Level 1 trauma center, as well as the state’s only children’s hospital. Here you will gain not only the best nursing education in the state, but also a truly unique learning environment and unlimited resources - all at your fingertips!

The School of Nursing has a reputation for offering rigorous graduate and undergraduate nursing education. UMMC students not only participate in hands-on, multidisciplinary clinical training, but also receive classroom instruction that effectively prepares them for successful careers as RNs in a variety of health-care settings. Upon completion of the program, students graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree and take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX ®), which grants the registered nurse license.
